8 Children Escape Fire At Suburban Daycare Facility

WOODSTOCK, Ill. (STMW) - Eight children safely exited a home Wednesday afternoon after a fire started in an attached garage at a daycare facility, police said.

Emergency personnel responded at 2:40 p.m. to a fire at 14511 Kishwaukee Valley Rd. in unincorporated Woodstock and found a fire in an attached garage, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff's office.

The homeowner operates a daycare facility inside the home, and the homeowner and all eight children inside exited safely, the release said.

Nobody was injured and the sheriff's office coordinated with parents to pick-up their children.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the attached garage, but the garage and two vehicles inside were a complete loss, the release said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it does not appear suspicious.
