Call it generosity, says Drew Peterson's attorney Joel Brodsky.

Whatever you call it, Brodsky says now that illegal gun charges have been thrown out against Peterson, the former Bolingbrook police sergeant wants to reconfigure the gun with a longer barrel and give that to his son Stephen.

Stephen Peterson is an Oak Brook police officer who was suspended for allegedly hiding his father's guns.

Brodsky says Drew Peterson wants to donate the short barrel of the gun--the part that ostensibly made it illegal--to the Bolingbrook Police.

"He's decided that he's going to donate the short barrel, when it's replaced, he's going to donate that to the Bolingbrook Police Department SWAT team."

Will County State's Attorney's office Spokesman Charles Pelkie says - "We're not going to give Peterson an illegal weapon on the promise that he's going to reconfigure it and make it legal."
