Buffalo Grove Village President Not To Run Again

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (CBS) - The village president of Buffalo Grove has decided not to seek a fourth term in office, after making headlines when he put on a wig and mocked another village official earlier this month.

The Daily Herald reports that Buffalo Grove Village President Elliott Hartstein says his decision not to run again had nothing to do with what happened on election night, when he put when he put on the black wig – a move that highlighted his public battle with recently recalled village trustee Lisa Stone.

Hartstein was publicly reprimanded by the village board. He issued an apology, but Stone said she saw it as political and not sincere.

Hartstein said he was just trying to have fun and may also have been showing his frustration with Stone.

Hartstein also says the decision by a longtime trustee to run for village president did not influence his decision not to run again. He said he just felt it was time to step down.

There was a public scolding Monday night for the village president of Buffalo Grove.
