Christmas Tree To Light Up At Thompson Center

CHICAGO (CBS) - With Thanksgiving behind us and December coming in just a couple of days, the holiday season is finally underway.

So it's time for another Christmas tree lighting.

At 10:30 a.m., Gov. Pat Quinn will flick the switch and light the tree at the Thompson Center, 100 W. Randolph St.

He will be joined from some very excited schoolchildren on hand to help.

The City of Chicago's Christmas tree in Daley Plaza was officially lit up the day before Thanksgiving.

Hundreds braved the drizzle and cold temperatures for the event, and a Chicago man even popped the question to his girlfriend at the ceremony.

The annual Christkindlmarket is also underway in the plaza.
