Stephen Peterson has been on paid administrative leave from the Oak Brook police department since August. Police chief Thomas Sheahan has been trying to have him fired after he allegedly violated department rules by holding onto his father's guns, so law enforcement would not find them during the Stacy Peterson investigation in 2007.

Stacy Peterson, Drew Peterson's fourth wife, disappeared that year and has never been found.

Drew Peterson's attorney says the case against Stephen is baseless.

Documents submitted to the Board of Fire and Police commissioners show Stephen Peterson has had a history of disciplinary issues as a police officer, including allegedly running police data checks on village employee vehicles.
