CHICAGO (STMW) – A 72-year-old man was found fatally stabbed in his home early Tuesday in the South Shore neighborhood on the Southeast Side, police said.

Police responded to a well-being check and found the man with fatal stab wounds in his apartment in the 7100 block of South Cyril Avenue at 4:27 a.m., News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

No one was in custody Tuesday evening, and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
