Utility Pole Falls On Man, Killing Him

CHICAGO (STMW) - A tree trimmer died after a telephone pole fell on him early Friday on the Southwest Side.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as Marvin Yoder, although his age and home address were not yet known Friday night.

The pole fell on the man about 3:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Cicero Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said. He was a tree trimmer.

The man, who appeared to be in his 40s, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to O'Brien, who did not know how or why the pole fell.

He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai at 4:07 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.

Wentworth Area detectives are conducting a death investigation.
