Northwestern And Illinois Heading To Texas For Bowls
At 7:30 pm Sunday, Northwestern will be announcing they will be heading to to the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas to play Texas Tech on Jan. 1st. Illinois is also playing their bowl in Texas. They play Baylor on Dec. 29th in Houston for the Texas Bowl.
When Illinois lost to Fresno, NU officials debated on attempting to get into the Texas Bowl. The Texas Bowl in Houston has a bowl-exclusive TV window and will get more exposure.
The TicketCity Bowl will also have TV exposure, but will go up against the Capitol One, Outback and Gator bowls.
Northwestern's visit to the TicketCity Bowl is the first time a Big Ten school made a trip to Dallas for a bowl since 1986, when Ohio State played in the Cotton Bowl.
