The controversy surrounds the death of Damajay Buchanan, 3 months, who was found unresponsive at his home in the 7700 block of S. South Shore Drive Sunday. He was pronounced dead at South Shore Hospital at 3:47 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy on Damajay was inconclusive. Calumet Area police detectives are conducting a death investigation, and DCFS is also conducting a probe.

DCFS spokesman Jimmie Whitelow says the boy's aunt was babysitting him at the time, and she is now under investigation for alleged death by abuse.

Whitelow said DCFS has substantiated four separate allegations against the aunt in the past: for abuse in 2000, and for neglect in 2003, 2007 and 2008.
