Wolves Beat Toronto In Shootout

(WSCR) - Trailing late in the third period, the Chicago Wolves got a goal with 26 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime, and eventually a shootout win over the Toronto Marlies.

Forwards Andrew Kozek and Nigel Dawes scored for Chicago in the shootout, while goaltender Drew MacIntyre thwarted all four of Toronto's attempts.

The Wolves tied the game, 2-2, with 26 seconds left in the final frame when center Jason Krog drove to the doorstep to push the loose puck into the net to send the game into overtime.

After trailing, 2-0, Chicago (19-15-2-1) brought the game within one, 2-1, 12:29 into the final period center Ryan Garbutt found the rebounded puck in the slot and dove to put it past Marlies netminder Jussi Rynnas.

Rynnas (8-9-3) stopped 29 shots for Toronto in regulation and overtime and thwarted one Wolves attempt in the shootout.

Toronto (17-13-0-5) got on board first 7:14 into the middle frame when center Darryl Boyce ripped a shot from the top of the left faceoff circle, which was deflected in past MacIntyre.

The Marlies brought the score to 2-0 with a power-play marker when center Christian Hanson redirected defenseman Matt Lashoff's shot past MacIntyre 13:20 into the second period.

MacIntyre (2-3-0) posted 34 saves in regulation and overtime.

The Wolves continue their four-game road swing through Canada when they meet the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre on Fri., Dec. 31 at 4 p.m.
