Reward Posted In Home Burglaries

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (STMW) - Naperville police on Friday appealed to the public for help in solving two home burglaries that occurred last month in the Brookdale neighborhood on the city's far northwest side.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Naperville Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrests and convictions of those responsible for the break-ins, police Sgt. Gregg Bell said in a prepared statement. "Jewelry was the only targeted item in both burglaries," he said.

The first break-in occurred sometime between 11 a.m. and 1:50 p.m. Dec. 9 at a home on the 1500 block of Foxhill Road, Bell said. The burglar or burglars got inside through an unlocked door, he said.

The second occurred between 9 a.m. Dec. 30 and 11:20 a.m. Dec. 31 at a home on the 1100 block of Piccadilly Circle, Bell said. Entry was made "by forcing (open) a rear door to the residence," he said.

Bell added a white Ford cargo van was seen parked in the driveway of the Foxhill Road home around the time of that burglary. The van's roof was outfitted with a ladder rack, but bore no ladders at the time, he said.

Witnesses to either crime or those who believe they have information about either case were asked to call Crime Stoppers at 630-420-6006. Callers can remain anonymous.
