AURORA TOWNSHIP, Ill. (STMW) – A woman and teen girl were critically injured in a Friday night shooting in an unincorporated area near west suburban Aurora.

Kane County Sheriff’s police responded about 9:55 p.m. Friday to a shots fired call near the 600 block of South Summer Avenue in unincorporated Aurora Township and found several shell casings in the street but no victims, according to a Kane County Sheriff’s office release.

Aurora police notified the Kane County Sheriff’s office about five minutes later that two of three people inside a 2003 Cadillac at McCoy Drive and Frontenac Street were shot, the release said.

Investigators learned the car was parked in the 600 block of South Summer Avenue in unincorporated Aurora Township when shots were fired and the motorist drove to McCoy Drive and Frontenac Street and called 911, the release said.

The Aurora Fire Department took a 17-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, the release said. The victims, both from Aurora, are listed in critical condition.

The 21-year-old Oswego motorist was not injured, police said.

Kane County Sheriff’s police are investigating, but nobody is in custody early Saturday, police said.
