This Time Around, Bears Have Different Offense

In week six of this season the Chicago Bears lost to the Seattle Seahawks 23-20 at home. It was a loss that created some panic among Bears fans.

"I guess I look back on the first game [the Bears] had with Seattle, and that was during a stretch that things weren't going so smooth and everybody was trying to figure things out," former NFL quarterback and current NFL analyst, Trent Green said on the Mully and Hanley Show.

The Bears' first matchup with the Seahawks this season came before their bye week, and much has been made of the adjustments and improvements that came after the Bears' week off. In week six of the season, the Bears were still trying to figure out who they were and what, exactly, they had on offense.

"Is Jay Cutler trying to learn the offense?," Green asked of the week six Bears' team. "Are the receivers trying to lean the offense? [There were] multiple changes in the offensive line early in the year. Mike [Martz] was trying to figure out what guys are good at and what routes they can run."

Many of those questions and issues were answered two weeks later when they Bears had a week of self-scouting and analysis. Since the bye week the offense has improved behind a more balanced attack.

"I just think the Bears are in a much better place right now in terms of their overall understanding of Mike's system, and Mike's overall understanding of what he has and what weapons he can utilize," Green said.
