Thayer: Hasselbeck Is Key Concern For Bears

The Chicago Bears ended the season at 11-5, winners of the NFC North and the second seed in the NFC Playoffs. The Seattle Seahawks finished 7-9 and lucked into the playoffs by winning the weak NFC West.

They're one meeting in the regular season went to the Seahawks by way of a 23-20 win.

"They were both totally different teams than they are now," former Bear and current radio analyst Tom Thayer said on the Mully and Hanley Show.

The biggest change came with the Bears. After their bye week they reeled off five consecutive wins, and won seven of their last nine games.

"On paper, yeah, the Bears, they have to win this game," Thayer said. "They're more talented at key positions across the board. However, Clyde Emrich has a saying that says: the strong defeat the weak and the smart defeat the strong. Matt Hasselbeck is a very smart football player and I think the one key concern for this game is making sure you keep him under wraps."

The Bears have had mixed success against elite quarterbacks this season. They Bears Michael Vick and the Eagles, but lost to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
