Missing Girl Would Turn 20 Today
CHICAGO (CBS/WBBM) -- It's been 9 1/2 years since the Bradley sisters vanished from their South Side home.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Steve Miller reports, Thursday would be the 20th birthday of Tionda Bradley.
When the girls disappeared on July 6, 2001, Tionda was 10 and her younger sister, Diamond, was only 3. She would now be a teenager.
Tionda and Diamond were last seen in their apartment complex near 35th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue. Their last communication was a note saying they were going to play at a park.
Elena Torres says her brother Daniel is Tionda's father, and she says she wants answers.
"It's just too much that's not right in this situation," Torres said. "I feel -- maybe it's just me being a mom -- I feel that the girls are alive and somebody knows where they're at but somebody's not talking, because I refuse to believe that they're gone."
Chicago Police say: "The investigation into the case of the missing Bradley sisters is open and active. No new tips have come in recently, but detectives continue to review and attempt to identify new investigative leads. We're committed to the case and remain in contact with the family."
Meanwhile, a Web site, FindTiondaAndDiamond.com, remains active.
"Someone knows exactly what happened to the Bradley Sisters and should tell what they know about their disappearance," the Web site says.
In 2008, a private detective concluded that a mysterious Internet picture that appeared on a MySpace profile was in, fact Tionda Bradley, but that conclusion later proved incorrect.
The reward in the case stands at $30,000.
