Daley On Thinking About Criticisms: 'I Don't'

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Mayor Richard M. Daley seems unfazed by criticisms tossed his way by the people hoping to replace him.

As WBBM Newsradio 780 Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports, at a debate this week on WTTW-Channel 11, the four leading candidates – Rahm Emanuel, Carol Moseley Braun, Gery Chico and Miguel Del Valle – were asked to point out Daley's biggest mistakes.

Del Valle cited the disruption of Meigs Field when the mayor had the lakefront airstrip bulldozed in the dead of night in 2003. Braun said it was neglect of neighborhoods.

Chico said it was heavy-handed treatment of the City Council, and Emanuel fautled Daley for focusing too much on his unsuccessful effort to score the 2016 Olympic Games.

Daley was asked what he thinks of all the criticisms.

"I don't," he replied calmly.

He was talking with reporters and business leaders on State Street at the time.

Daley rarely comments on the campaign to succeed him.
