Pork Board To Drop 'Other White Meat' Slogan
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The slogan, "Pork: the other white meat" is being discontinued, but an Illinois pork producers' group says it won't be forgotten.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, the ad campaign dates back to 1987. It was created by the Chicago office of Bozell, Jacobs, Kenyon & Eckhardt for the National Pork Board.

The new ad campaign will be announced in two weeks.
Tim Maiers, public relations director for the Illinois Pork Producers Association, says the group welcomes the new ad campaign, but the old one will always be remembered.
"I've gone places – whether it be in Chicago or out to Washington, D.C., or it might be that I've got a pork shirt on – I've gotten in elevators, and folks say, 'Oh, pork, the other white meat,' you know," Maiers said. "It's just one of those that's very recognizable."
Maiers does not yet know what the new campaign will be, but he says it might focus on how easy pork is to prepare for people on the go.
