PARK FOREST, Ill. (CBS) — Two people were injured when a house exploded in south suburban Park Forest Tuesday.

The residence at 13 Bailey Road in Park Forest blew up sometime before 1:30 p.m. Nicor gas crews were on the scene, but it was not confirmed whether natural gas was responsible for the explosion, Park Forest village spokesman Jason Miller said.

“We do know there is a decent amount of debris,” said Miller, with parts of the home strewn about 100 feet away from the foundation.

Two nearby utility workers reportedly saved a woman from the house, after finding her on the second floor. The woman would not jump, so the workers got a ladder to her just before the second floor of the house collapsed, a witness said.

The woman was the only person in the house at the time, the witness said.
