Campaign manager Tom Mannix says the incident happened along 103rd and Kedzie last night as he turned his back to call 911 after he saw the volunteer and the other man scuffling outside.

The volunteer was cut in the face with glass but wasn't badly hurt.

Chicago police say 44-year old Mark Smith, and not the campaign volunteer, was charged with misdemeanor battery.
