Rahm Emanuel Joins WXRT To Celebrate 'Chicago Day'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel is helping CBS radio station WXRT (FM-93.1) celebrate "Chicago Day"--a full day of programming dedicated to the heart and soul of the city.

Emanuel will be a special guest tonight, visiting XRT studios to play some of his favorite music, and chat with XRT morning co-hosts, Lin Brehmer and Mary Dixon.

In a taped interview, Emanuel joked that as a child he used to fight over the car radio with his father. Dad wanted classical; Rahm wanted WXRT. The segment with Emanuel airs tonight at 6 p.m.

Emanuel also talks about his personal relationship with President Obama and his support of the arts and Chicago music venues. Highlights from this exclusive interview will be heard throughout the day, with the full-length interview airing at 6 p.m.

Chicago Day features the city's favorite musicians, actors, athletes, and politicians. Mayor Richard M. Daley, Jerry Reinsdorf, Robert Falls, Dan Hampton, Little Steven Van Zandt, Joe Shanahan, Patti Smith, Tony Fitzpatrick, Michael McDermott, Tim Tuten, Ramsey Lewis, and many more will be heard speaking from the heart on what Chicago means to them. Chicago Day will also showcase a wide range of music from Chicago artists, primarily from the rock, blues, and folk genres.
