Crash Causes Fuel Spill On West Side

UPDATED 03/10/11 11:43 a.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A car accident prompted a hazardous materials incident on the West Side Thursday morning.

As of 10:55 a.m., emergency crews were still on the scene of the wreck in the 5500 block of West Fullerton Avenue in the Belmont Central neighborhood.

The crash apparently caused a fuel spill that prompted a Level I Hazmat, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado.

The Hazmat was secured at 11:17 a.m. and no one was hurt, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.

Police confirmed the Hazmat but could not provide further details.
