Vandals Break Windows On Several Cars In Evanston

EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) - A brick-wielding suspect in an SUV apparently went on a vandalism spree in north suburban Evanston over the weekend.

Four cars were damaged between late Saturday and early Sunday, according to Evanston police reports. In at least two of the incidents, the offender or offenders were in a dark SUV when they broke a car window with a brick.

About 11:20 p.m. Saturday, someone in a dark SUV drove up to a 1999 Chevy on the 1800 block of Brummel Street and smashed the windows with a brick, the report said. About a mile away, on the 1300 block of Madison Street, someone used a brick to break the side mirror and dent the driver's door on a 2007 Toyota,.

Two similar incidents took place about a half-mile east. On the 800 block of Sherman Avenue, about 11:40 p.m., someone in a dark SUV drove up to a 2000 Cadillac and smashed the windshield, the report said. About a block away, someone used a brick to break the windows of a 2002 Chevy.

No arrests had been announced as of Monday.
