New Trier German Teacher In Trouble

WINNETKA, Ill. (CBS/WBBM) -- A foreign language teacher at New Trier High School on the North Shore is out of the classroom and under investigation.

But no one is saying why.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's David Roe reports, New Trier administrators have told parents that German teacher Daniela Rossmann was accused of misconduct by another faculty member.

"On the day that these allegations were reported to school officials, New Trier removed Ms. Rossmann from her teaching duties pending the outcome of an investigation; the proper authorities were notified as well, and the investigation is ongoing," a recent note to parents stated.

Rossmann has taught German at New Trier since 2003, and has been working full-time at the school's Winnetka Campus.

"At this time, providing further details would jeopardize the investigation. We take this matter very seriously, and we are committed to providing a safe environment for all of our students," the letter stated.

Social Workers also will be present in Rossmann's classes on Tuesday and as needed.
