CHICAGO (STMW) – Two men were wounded in an Avondale neighborhood shooting early Sunday on the Northwest Side.

Two people were shot at 5:53 a.m. in the 2900 block of North Kedzie Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.

Belmont District police officers initially responded to a report of a man shot at North Campbell and West Belmont avenues and found a stopped van with two gunshot victims inside, police said.

The men were on their way to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center when they pulled, apparently because one of the men were seriously injured, police said. It was then officers learned they were shot on Kedzie Avenue.

Both men were at Illinois Masonic Medical Center Sunday, one in serious condition and the other in good condition.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Sunday.
