Jim Hendry Joins Hit & Run

By Adam Harris

Chicago Cub fans want to win now, and Chicago Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry knows that.

Hendry joined Matt Spiegel and Barry Rozner on Hit & Run this morning to talk about the progress throughout spring training, and the Cubs outlook this year.

Hendry answered Barry Rozner's long time question of, "what are the Cubs this year?" Hendry says the Cubs can win now and are still preparing and are prepared for the future.

"I really believe we can be a contending club," Hendry said. "I think we have a really good division. If you go back the last ten or fifteen years, you see it all the time. I don't think anyone was writing down the Giants name as a World Champ...in fact I don't think anyone was writing down the Giants name. The world has a history of the Wild Card team winning the World Series."

Hendry also comments on the key injuries throughout the division, particularly from the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Other questions answer in the interview are, will Carlos Silva make the team as a starter? Does his contract have anything to do with his position on the squad?
