Man, Woman Hurt In Wicker Park Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man and a woman were hurt early Wednesday when the vehicle they were inside crashed into a pole in the Wicker Park neighborhood, near the busy and iconic intersection of Milwaukee, Damen and North avenues.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 1:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

A man and a woman were in the vehicle when it struck a pole, and both were taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical center where they were expected to be treated and released, Greer said.

The two were arguing prior to the wreck, and the man hit his head on the windshield after grabbing hold of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to hit the pole, according to information from Shakespeare District police.

It was not immediately known if any traffic tickets were to be issued.
