Tyler Colvin will make his first career start at first base when the Chicago Cubs take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Regular first baseman Carlos Pena suffered a sprained thumb in Monday’s win.

“I can probably use [Pena] if I needed to late,” manager Mike Quade told Paul Sullivan, of the Chicago Tribune. “But we’ll see. We’ll be careful with it and we’ll get a chance to watch Mr. Colvin at first base.”

It will also be Andrew Cashner’s first career start as a major leaguer.
