Teen Girl Shot In Back During Argument On West Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 14-year-old girl was shot in the back early Saturday morning when a verbal altercation between two groups turned violent on the West Side.
The girl was standing with a group of people on the 5100 block of West Crystal Street at 2:50 a.m. when two groups of people began arguing, police said.
One person took out a handgun and fired, shooting the girl in the back.
The girl suffered one gunshot wound and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where her condition was listed as "stable," police said.
It was unclear whether the teen was the intended target or was caught in the gunfire, police said Saturday morning.
A description of the offender was not clear. No one was in custody at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
