Pierre, Beckham Leading The Way For White Sox

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Through the first nine games of the 2011 season, the Chicago White Sox have one of the most productive offenses in all of baseball, and a lot of that has to do with their No. 1 and No. 2 hitters.

The success of Juan Pierre and Gordon Beckham has helped put the White Sox at the top of Major League Baseball in runs (62) and RBI (61), third in batting average (.307) and on base percentage (.367) and sixth in home runs (11).

"They've been getting on base and having good at-bats and making it tougher on the other team," Paul Konerko said. "That makes it easier for the guys in the middle, because when you get guys out there, and it's happening and you can tell they're feeling pretty good, you don't put a bunch of pressure on yourself."

As the leadoff hitter, Pierre is hitting .275 and scored six runs. Beckham, hitting second, has a .333 average and a .400 on-base percentage with nine runs scored and two home runs.
