Obama's Sister Writes Kids Book About Their Mom
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- President Barack Obama's sister has written a children's book as a way to explain to her own children what the president's and her mother was like.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, the new children's book, Ladder to the Moon, is Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng's way of explaining to her own daughters what their grandmother – her and President Obama's mother – Ann Dunham, was like.

Soetoro-Ng said she was "pregnant with my eldest daughter, Suhaila, and came across books and toys my mom had left for my children … and it was at that moment I felt such a longing to have her back help me".
She said her mother was a storyteller and didn't do the expected. She says her and President Obama's mother passed along to them ways to look at the world.
Soetoro-Ng was inspired to write Ladder to the Moon when her now six-year old daughter Suhalia began asking questions about the grandmother she never knew.
"I know that our mother would have done some a tremendous job of giving them love and guidance and nourishing them with stories", she said.
