Police Search For Gunman In West Woodlawn Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are searching for the gunman who shot and wounded another man in a domestic incident in the West Woodlawn neighborhood Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened around 9:15 a.m. at 747 E. 65th St, police said.

Police did not yet have details on the circumstances of the shooting, but the victim, an adult male, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County where his condition was initially reported as stable News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Dispatch reports indicated the victim suffered at least three gunshot wounds -- to the right leg, the left side of the body and the lower back.

Preliminary investigation by police indicates the shooting may be domestic-related. Police know the identity of the suspected gunman, who was not in custody as of about 1 p.m., Mirabelli said.

The shooting was not believed to be a random act, he said.
