Dog Rescued Last Year Now A Facebook Favorite

CHICAGO (WBBM/CBS) -- A year ago, no one thought a dog named Ike would survive after being rescued on his namesake expressway.

But now, he's hobnobbing with Gov. Pat Quinn, and he's healthy and happy, and sharing his life on Facebook.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Mike Krauser reports, Ike is shown on Facebook with Quinn, the crew of a news chopper, and his best friend, a cat named Chrissy. Ike's Facebook page also displays the Blackhawks logo, congratulating the team for their Stanley Cup victory last year. He's not counting them out yet.

Nearly a year ago, Ike, a pit bull, spent two days running along the Eisenhower. When he was finally rescued, officials found a permanent home for him with empty nesters in the northern suburbs.

Since then, nearly 2,400 people have declared "I Like Ike" on Facebook.
