Four Burglary Suspects Questioned By Police

RIVERSIDE, Ill. (STMW) -- Police in west suburban Riverside are now holding four suspects for questioning in area burglaries.

Police on Wednesday were called by a resident who had a man ring his doorbell and then ask for someone who didn't live there. But as the resident went to answer the door, the male suspect was already leaving the home, a release from Riverside police said.

Responding officer were able to get a description of a vehicle that was leaving the area at the time of the call and all on-duty officers joined in the search, the release said.

An officer in an unmarked car found a car that matched the offender's description, leaving the area of the original call. That officer radioed his location, which led to officers in both Riverside and Berwyn looking out for the suspect's whereabouts, the release said.

Officers from Berwyn, Lyons, North Riverside and Riverside affected a high risk stop of the vehicle at Oak Park Avenue and 30th Place, taking three men in custody without resistance, the release said.

On Wednesday evening, Riverside police said a fourth burglary suspect was also in custody and officers are working with North Riverside and Berwyn Police departments on a joint investigation.

Investigators are searching homes in Cicero for stolen property from area burglaries.

Charges were pending Wednesday evening.
