Fire Breaks Out In Countryside Near Stevenson Expressway
COUNTRYISDE, Ill. (CBS) -- A fire broke out Monday morning in a garage in Countryside, snagging traffic along the Stevenson Expressway but causing no injuries.
As CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports, the fire was contained to a kitchen area at the rear of a garage at 7101 Burr Oak Lane in Countryside. It was out by just after 6 a.m.
The family escaped safely, and firefighters succeeded in preventing the fire from spreading to the rest of the house.
But during the fire, traffic on the Stevenson slowed as onlookers stared out at the smoke. Staging was along 71st Place right along the expressway.
