Indiana 9/11 Survivor Relieved At Bin Laden's Death

DYER, Ind. (WBBM) -- Osama Bin Laden's death comes are great news to a Dyer, Ind., man, who was in the north tower of the World Trade Center when American Airlines Flight 11 hit the building on Sept. 11, 2001.

As WBBM Newsradio 780's Mike Krauser reports, Don Bacso thought he was going to die that day. But he made it out alive, walking down 57 floors before the building collapsed.

He was up late last night, glued to the TV.

"I was excited. I was elated that they finally had gotten him," Bacso said. "It's been 10 long years, and I'm so glad that they got him."

Asked if he feels like this is personal, Bacso said: "I think it's personal for everyone. Not only personal for survivors and the victims and the families of the victims, but all of us, all Americans."

He says the news is emotional. He is elated, but at the same time, feels sorrow for those who didn't make it.
