Man Charged With Setting Fire At VA Hospital

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Gary, Ind., man is charged with setting fire to furniture in a veterans' hospital in the Illinois Medical District.

Kasey Darcel Dixon, 36, is charged with felony aggravated arson, police said.

Dixon allegedly set fire to a shelving unit and a bed at the Jesse Brown Veterans Administration Medical Center, 820 S. Damen Ave., according to police.

It was not immediately known when the alleged arson occurred, but he was arrested Monday at 9:30 p.m. by medical center officers.

Officers at the medical center had also spoken with a witness, police said.

Dixon lives in the 4700 block of Vermont Place in Gary. He was to appear in court later Wednesday, police said.
