Lake In The Hills Wreck Leaves Four Teens Hurt

LAKE IN THE HILLS, Ill. (STMW) - Four teens were taken to hospitals after two cars collided Friday night in northwest suburban Lake in the Hills.

No citations have been issued as of 10 a.m Saturday, but the investigation is "ongoing,'' said Officer Chris Miller.

The road was clear and dry when a 2011 Chevrolet Cobalt that was westbound Algonquin Road made a left turn in front of 2011 Ford Shay that was eastbound on Algonquin about 9:45 p.m. at Lakewood, Miller said.

When they collided the Shay, which is a "model T type car,'' sustained heavy front-end damage and the Cobalt had front passenger side damage.

There was only one teen inside the Cobalt and three inside the Ford, Miller said.

One 19-year-old was taken to Centegra Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock, while a second 19-year-old and two people who are 18 were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin , Miller said.

No one was airlifted, but their conditions were not immediately known.

The traffic signal at the intersection was functioning properly and the Cobalt had a solid green, but "didn't yield'' to the Ford, which had the right of way, said Miller.
