Four Attack, Rob Man On Brown Line Train Near North Side

UPDATED 06/08/11 6:01 p.m.

CHICAGO (STMW/CBS) -- A man was hospitalized after being attacked by four others and robbed of an iPhone and wallet while riding a CTA train on the Near North Side on Wednesday afternoon. CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez has the story.

It happened about 3:40 p.m. in the 300 block of West Chicago Avenue, police said. Four males attacked another male, taking his iPhone and wallet as he rode the Brown Line.

A CTA train operator was alerted to an attempted robbery on CTA property and immediately contacted the CTA Control Center. Police were alerted and responded, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in "stable" condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.

No one was in custody as of 4:30 p.m. and police remain at the scene.
