One officer was talking to the male driver and another officer was talking to his female passenger, with the passenger-side door open, when the driver put the vehicle into gear and accelerated. The officer who was standing on the passenger-side was hurt.

A police spokesman says one officer fired a shot at the SUV as it was speeding away.

The spokesman says the other officer was treated at a hospital for an arm injury, then released.

Police are looking for the 27-year-old man who was driving that 2006 white Jeep Cherokee. He had produced his ID before speeding away, so police know who he is.

Officers say the Cherokee had temporary plates.
