Konerko Still Leads All-Star Vote With One Day To Go

(CBS) White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko continues to hold onto the American League lead in MLB's All-Star Game Final Vote with less than 24 hours remaining.

Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that Konerko and Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino still held leads in their respective leagues as of 3 p.m. CT.

The White Sox continue to promote their "PaulStar" campaign, taking to the air Wednesday in an effort to get Konerko to the All-Star Game. The team had a plane flying a banner  around Chicago and U.S. Cellular Field during the White Sox's 4-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

The Blackhawks and Bulls also chipped in Wednesday, encouraging fans to vote for Konerko on their team web sites.

Konerko leads Tigers catcher Victor Martinez, Royals left fielder Alex Gordon, Orioles center fielder Adam Jones and Rays second baseman Ben Zobrist.

Fans have until 3 p.m. CT Thursday to vote. Major League Baseball will announce the winners shortly after voting closes Thursday.
