Man Robbed With Meat Cleaver On Quiet Block Near Rosehill Cemetery

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was robbed by a pair of suspects wielding a meat cleaver in the North Side's Arcadia Terrace neighborhood overnight.

Just after 10 p.m., a man with a meat cleaver and a woman came up to the victim in the 5800 block of North Artesian Avenue, and demanded his valuables, police said.

The pair made off with an undetermined amount of cash, and no one was injured, the sergeant said.

The quiet block where the attack occurred is lined with trees and two-flat buildings. It is half a block west of Western Avenue and Rosehill Cemetery.

The surrounding neighborhood, surrounded by the busy thoroughfares of Lincoln, Peterson and Western avenues, is likewise a quiet and family-friendly area dominated by two-flats and bungalows. Violent crime in the area is not common.

Two people are in custody for the robbery, the sergeant said. No charges had been filed early Wednesday.
