Registered Sex Offender Charged With Leaving State

YORKVILLE, Ill. (STMW) - A registered sex offender was ordered held on $50,000 bond for leaving the state and disappearing for nine days, a violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act.

Danny A. Newhouse, 55, was ordered in September 2008 to register every 90 days, and always prior to leaving Illinois. But Newhouse went to Michigan without notifying the Kendall County Sheriff's office, a release from the sheriff's office said.

Newhouse was unable to be located for nine days while his whereabouts were unknown.

Upon his return, Newhouse was charged with seven counts of violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act, a Class 2 felony. Bond was set at $50,000 for the new charges.

He has been held at the Kendall County Jail since July 3 for violation of an order of protection, the release said.
