Man Shot, Killed, In Van In West Town
UPDATED 08/04/11 7:07 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are looking for clues into a shooting early Thursday that left a man dead in the West Town neighborhood.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. at Ashland Avenue and Erie Street, police say.
The man fell out of a van into the street after he was shot, police said. He was unresponsive when police found him.
Police say he was shot in the side of the neck while sitting in the van.
The victim, identified as Curtis Canino, 19, of the 400 block of Stevens Drive in Addison, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Detectives do not have any suspects in the crime, and a description of the gunman was not available early Thursday.
The crime scene prompted police to shut down busy Ashland Avenue at Erie Street, which could have an impact on morning rush commuters.
