Man Dies After Being Shot Near His Home

CHICAGO (STMW) - A man was shot multiple times in the South Side Gresham neighborhood Sunday morning and died shortly after from his injuries.

Darius Jones, 20, of the 8100 block of South Winchester Ave., was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center at 12:15 p.m., after being shot at 8156 S. Winchester Ave., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

About 11:05 a.m. police responded to a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the 8100 block of Winchester Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

No one is in custody and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
