Man Stabbed, Critically Injured, In Lincoln Park Nightlife District

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was left in critical condition after being stabbed in the Lincoln Park neighborhood overnight, on a stretch of Lincoln Avenue that is home to a busy nightlife district.

This was the second stabbing in the area in just the past week.

The 32-year-old man was stabbed around 9:45 p.m. Thursday in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, between the junctions with Orchard Street and Belden Avenue, and Larrabee Street, Geneva Terrace and Webster Avenue.

The victim suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Circumstances surrounding the stabbing were not yet known early Friday.

The 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue is packed with an assortment of sports bars, nightclubs and restaurants, and is packed with foot traffic in the nighttime hours.

Another stabbing happened about a 15-minute walk from the scene earlier this week.

Late on Tuesday night, two men were stabbed and wounded in the 100 block of West Diversey Drive, in the park of Lincoln Park near Diversey Harbor. Both men were taken to Illinois Masonic in good condition.
