3 Hurt, Including Baby, When SUV Flips Over On Lake Shore Drive

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Southbound Lake Shore Drive was shut down Wednesday morning, after a sport-utility vehicle flipped over and left three people injured – including a baby.

A Ford minivan was traveling north on Lake Shore Drive at Balbo Drive, when its driver made a left turn and collided with a southbound Ford Explorer, police said.

The Explorer flipped over three times, police said.

The Fire Department called EMS Plan I – automatically sending five ambulances – at 10 a.m. for the crash.

Two adults -- a 25-year-old man who was driving the Explorer and a 21-year-old woman -- were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The baby, a 1-year-old girl was taken to Children's Memorial Hospital. The infant is listed in good condition, while the adults were in stable condition.

The driver of the minivan was uninjured, police said.

Police shut down southbound Lake Shore Drive at the scene after the accident.
