'Book Of Mormon' Coming To Chicago Next Year

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The hottest show on Broadway is coming to Chicago next year.

As WBBM Newsradio's Regine Schlesinger reports, Chicagoans will be treated to the slightly profane and very irreverent musical, "The Book of Mormon," co-written by "South Park" co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez of "Avenue Q" fame.

"The Book of Mormon" picked up nine Tony awards in June, including Best Musical. It is virtually sold out on Broadway through much of next year.

Now, besides a national tour beginning next summer, the producers are launching a separate, Chicago-only company that will come to the Bank of America Theater, 18 W. Monroe St., starting in December 2012.

The producers believe the Chicago production could be like "Wicked" and "Jersey Boys," extending well beyond the initial plan for a 12-week run.
