Robbers Injure Pizza Delivery Man In West Rogers Park

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A pizza delivery driver suffered minor injuries at the hands of robbers overnight in the West Rogers Park neighborhood.

The man, 39, had just exited his vehicle to deliver a pizza in the 6100 block of North Seeley Avenue about 12:45 a.m., when three males ran up and grabbed him from behind, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

They robbers through his pockets but ran away after they weren't able to take anything, Greer said.

The man suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment, she said.

The driver couldn't identify or describe the suspects, other than to say that they wore dark-colored clothing, Greer said. No one was is in custody early Wednesday.

The isolated block of Seeley Avenue where the robbery happened is composed of several near-identical multi-unit courtyard buildings. It begins at Norwood Street directly behind the sprawling lot for the Peterson Avenue Target store, and concludes in a dead end south of Granville Avenue.

Belmont Area police detectives are investigating the robbery.
