Chicago Architect Honored With $500,000 Genius Grant
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago architect is among the latest recipients of a "no-strings-attached" MacArthur Foundation $500,000 genius grant.
47-year-old Jeanne Gang designed Chicago's 82-story Aqua Tower on Columbus Drive, just north of Millennium Park. Her firm - Studio Gang - puts a focus on green building and sustainable design.
"Aqua was our first tower," Gang said. "We were thinking how it was linked to the city."
Among the other 22 recipients - a North Carolina scientist who studies how to prevent sports-related concussions - and a New York City children's choir founder.
