McNeil: Ugly Week Following An Ugly Game

Ted Phillips is extremely proud of the Bears' website. It gets more even traffic than what you see in the Bears' backfield when Jay Cutler is making a deep dropback. Or when Matt Forte is attempting to run wide.

General manager Jerry Angelo used the team's site Wednesday to address the criticism that's been directed at the offensive line on the heels of Sunday's limp effort in New Orleans. The Bears again are rock bottom in pass protection, allowing an NFL-worst 11 sacks and 18 quarterback hits, which is tied for the most with three other teams.

The Bears front wall is equally challenged on the rare occasions when resident wizard Mike Martz dials up a run. Through two games, they're 27th in rushing, averaging 3.8 yards per carry...
